I saw somewhere, can't remember now, that chickens can be fed pre-moistened squares of dehydrated alfalfa that is primarily used for horses.

Has anyone or is anyone doing this and, if so, do the chickens like it?

Thanks

I have never use the dehydrated hay. Are you talking about cubes or pellets? Either one woul dbe great mositen or in a mash. I give them about two or three flakes of Alfalfa a week and it is gone in just a couple of hrs. They love it. The more greens they get the better yellow/orange their yokls are and they healthier they are for us.

I've used the cubes before. They are much more like fresh than the pellets, but they take longer to moisten. I would put a bunch in a bucket & put hot water on them. It would take an hour or so & some stirring to get them apart. It takes a fair amount of water also, but the chickens loved them.
