I would love to get a indoor silkie but I want some info from people who keep theirs in the house first.

What do you do with your silkies when you are not home?

Where do they sleep?

When they wear diapers do their butts get gross

Is it okay if I get just one if I am with it most of the time?

What about light? how do you provide light for your indoor silkie?

Any other info would be appreciated

I usually take my baby with me whenever possible otherwise she stays inside a large dog carrier untill I come home.

Her bed is a pillow on my bed. Same position every night and every morning!

Only if they have diarreah....otherwise butts are clean

From personal experience I would not recommended...interaction between chickens is essential. If you only have one, then to that one the flock will consist of you and it. Aside the love and care and attention you will provide, you will also be depriving it from things it can only learn from other chickens.

I have a couple more questions:

What do you do about eggs? I mean when they are wearing a diaper???

Do silkies have an egg song?

Do males crow too?

I do, she lives i a giant rubbermade type tub thats be coverted , she lives with some quail ehe hatched by herself and my other chickens attack her even months into try to Intergrate her into thete little flock. She wears a diaper or i have a chuck pad or old towel on my lap. She sleeps with her quail buddies though im thinking about getting her a bed for my bed, I'm trying to train her to ride in a bag so i can take her out and im looking into makeing her a therpy chicken, she hasnt laid an egg yet she is still a tad young,

I have two house silkies - Stephen and Susan. They live in their palace under the stairs and live the life of Riley! They don't wear diapers - I have wooden floors so its easy enough to clean up as we go along. Susan starting laying about a month ago and is currently big time broody - very concerning behaviour for a novice like me! Susie does have a little egg song but then shes got a song for most occasions - they are very chatty chickens. She kicks Steve out of the palace when she's laying, he wanders around like a disgruntled hubby in trouble for spending too long in the pub.
I've had a mix of reactions from people about my house chicks - generally amazement and a suspicion that I am mad.
With the benefit of hind sight it was definitely the right decision to have the chicks as house guests - they are endlessly amusing and we have much more interaction than if they were outside. Fortunately I have very understanding neighbours who are early risers anyway, otherwise I don't think it would have worked out so well.
I also have a boat Ko Shamo - Harry - who lives on my boyf's narrow boat.

And I actually sent Christmas cards for the first time ever just so I could show them off. How sad am I?!
