The Comb Contest
Introducing a new -- and unusual -- kind of chicken contest that should be different and fun for everyone who enters...a contest focused completely on chicken combs!

***THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED. Thank you to everyone who participated. The results will be posted soon and prizes will be on the way!***

Envirogirl11 has been giving me some advice to help me set up this contest since it is the first one I've ever made.

Send me a PM if you have any questions. Hopefully I covered everything that is necessary.

The Rules

1. The contest is limited to chickens, but you can enter any breed or gender. Since this is a comb contest, it is probably better to enter adult birds.

2. Each participant can enter up to three different (3) birds.

3. You may choose up to two (2) categories to enter an individual bird in.

4. A picture of the bird and the "Entry Form" (copy and paste this into your entry and fill it out) are required.

Entry Form
Category(ies):
Breed:
Name (if possible):
Age (if possible):
Fun Facts or Story:

5. Pictures will be judged based on representation of comb type, photo quality, and beauty/originality of the bird. Since this is a comb contest, the comb should be easily seen in the picture (I know this can be more difficult with the smaller-combed breeds).

The Categories

a. Single Comb
b. Cushion/Pea/Walnut Comb
c. Strawberry Comb
d. Rose Comb
e. Buttercup Comb
f. V-Shaped Comb
g. Biggest, Floppiest Comb
h. Most Unusual-Looking Comb (including bizarre-looking or somewhat deformed combs!

)

If you need some information about chicken combs to help you decide which category to enter, click here: http://library.thinkquest.org/05aug/00044/id16.htm

There
will be a winner and a runner-up in each category.

There will also be an overall "Best of Show" chosen out of the winners of the eight categories. The Best of Show will receive a custom drawing from Envirogirl11.

The other winners and runners-up will receive a special certificate (I will PM individuals for their addresses as necessary).

Time Period
This contest will run until the end of August.

The Judges
We have a wonderful selection of judges for this contest, which is good, because there will be a lot of categories to judge! I'll probably put one or two people in charge of judging each category, with a full group choice for Best in Show. That way, everyone isn't having to judge 50+ birds (depending on how many entries we get!).

I have one now, maybe a really wierd one later:
pea comb
Brahma
Fluffenuter
I think he is 4 years
He is now my favorite rooster (since my other favorite died). He gets picked on by the other roosters since he is so big and slow. He is the nicest of my chickens.

I was researching that breed, and found out that they have a single comb. Is that what's hiding beneath all that fluff? Maybe it would work for the "Unusual" category, since it's a single comb hidden by feathers...
