Unfortunatly there isn't a whole lot you can do once it turns black. Have you been putting anything on it? A prolapsed penis in a drake is from over breeding. I would, if you haven't already separate him from the others. If you can let him soak in your tub with warm water for as long as possible. some say this helps. It however did not help my drake. Borderline (non pain kind) should be kept on it along with preparation H. I am so sorry this happened to your drake. I hope you can get him better.Hi! I had a drake with this last year. I removed his penis with very sharp scissors. A drake's penis in not really a penis but just a tube to deposit sperm near the vent of the hen. You can pull the penis out and clip off all the black, just clip it high enough up into the healthy pink tissue. I know this sounds drastic but it will save him. I clipped off the dead tissue, slathered it with neosporin (without pain meds in it) and kept an eye on him. My drake still breeds (or thinks he is breeding) and is very happy. When you clip off the dead tissue it might bleed a little if any at all. It's really not as bad as it sounds. My drake never made a sound or moved. But the clipping must be done to head off any worsening infections. He will do better with it removed. Let me know if you have any questions.
