Try holding them under warm running water, vent end only. It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it. It might take a minute but the poo will wash away with the pressure of the water. If there is some that is still stuck use a paper towel to gently remove it. You can always put them back under. A paper towel to pat dry and you should be good to go. Some people use olive oil to help prevent it from sticking again. I didn't have any issues with our first group but the second group there were about 10 out of 39. I added sugar to their water and I really think it played a part. After a couple of days everyone was good to go and I didn't have to worry about it anymore.I just got a batch of 30 new chicks. Probably 10 have the pasty butt. i tired to clean it with a damp rag, but could not remove it. It did come away a bit. They are seperated into 2 tubs each with a lamp. Definately worse on the smaller brown chicks. Their tub may be hotter. I did raise the lamp.
Any suggestions as to how to clean them? This is my second batch. I only had one chick before with the poo stuck and it came off on its own.
