The bamboo works two ways
provides shade and screens them from the neighbors and the chickens love to eat bamboo
 
I have a couple of questions regarding the roof. Did you use plywood under the tin roof? If so, what thickness did you use? I'm constructing this myself with no male help, so I'm wondering how I am going to screw the tin roof onto the plywood (especially in the middle section)? My total footprint will be 20'Wide by 16'Deep. I will be dividing the run so there will be two sections of 20'W x 8'D. One section for the large breeds and the other section for the Silkies.
