What type of bedding should I use in the cop? How often should I change it ?

I use pine chips. I buy them at TS. I put them down on May 25th and haven't cleaned them once. I add about a half bale once a month. Right now there is probably 6-8 inches of chips on the floor. I will probably change them in the Spring, but only because I want to compost them. There is little to no odor in my coop. However, I do use a poop board, and that probably catches 50% of the coop poop (say that 10x fast!), which I clean once a week. Frequent cleaning of the coop is NOT necessary. The chickens don't care, nor does it harm them.; it just makes US feel good.

You might want to think about a poop board then. They're easy to clean, and you would save some money on frequent bedding changes.
