I have two groups of pullets, group 1 is 8 weeks old 2 buff orpingtons 2 black australorps. Group 2 is 6 weeks old 3 RIR 1 barred rock 1 blue copper maran. They were in separate brooders while the coop was being built but they we're let outside to roam together with some small chasing around but nothing serious. Now they're in the coop/run the run is 8'x14' and the biggest BO is getting pretty aggressive towards the smaller younger pullets, she chasers them away from food while she's eating, pecks them, and will chase them sometimes just out of the blue. Is this normal and should I be concerned? Should I intervene in any way? If so what should I do? Thanks

It sounds to me that the one who is being aggressive is setting the "pecking order" now that they're all together. I wouldn't worry too much unless she gets extremely aggressive and draws blood. Just thinking here...are you sure she's a "she" ???

I'm assuming she's a she, no spurs and I ordered sexed (I know that's not def). How could I check for sure?

Just make sure they have lots of room, multiple feed and water stations, places to hide and let them work it out unless there is serious blood drawn.
Some kind of wire crate within the coop/run might be good to have ready for the aggressor in case things get too bloody.
Intervening will only make the drama last longer.

Dominant and/or aggressive bird can be either pullet or cockerel, they both can be vicious.

This is the best shot I could get of the main aggressor.
