Hello,
About six months ago I purchased four Rhode Island Red's and two Jersey Giant's as day old chicks. When the were about two months old I added two Sebright Bantams (as chicks) to the flock and called it good. Since the Seabright's are much younger than the rest I had planned on them laying later than my other birds (who should start in the next month or so)...
To my surprise I found two eggs which were laid yesterday by my Sebright's. I couldn't believe they had started to lay at only three months as I figured this was way too young for them. I was also surprised both laid on the same day about an hour apart...
Has anyone else had experience raising Sebrights who can add some input on their egg production? I would love to know some more about this breed...
Over the last month all my hens, especially my Rhode Island Red's, have started to get very loud during the day. Does anyone think they will lay early since they noticed the Sebrights started?
