Today one of our hens who is 4 yrs old, had a prolapsed membrane. We took her in to wash the area, and tried to push it back in. With no luck, it still came out. We put prep H around the opening. My husband noticed that there is also an egg, it will not come out. The egg is not broken. We fear she will die if the egg is still in her. What should we do? Do we take the chance and make a small cut to get the egg out? In the meantime, I'm going to put her in warm water, and try to get the egg out the best I can. Your help in much appreciated. If the vet is our only option, we will go. I'm trying to upload a picture at the moment, if I could figure it out.

just a super quick update. We made a warm bath, and applied olive oil around the hole, and with a little bit of help the egg did managed to get out. I had to turn the egg with the smaller end towards the hole. We applied more prep H, and now she is resting. This is just half the battle. Will keep you posted. Thanks

Sorry that you didn't get any response , but it sounds like you did your research and took matters into your own hands. Keep up with prep H and hopefully things will be back to ' normal ' in no time.

Thank you so much, she`s resting and not making any noises.
We taped her up with a cardboard disc to keep everything inside.
We did this in the past with our other chickens and it worked like a charm.

We may have to keep her inside for a couple of months.

Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness, and encouraging words.

Our chicken thanks you too!!!!!

Peace :)
