I have a BBRed roo that has become aggressive over night. Heis about one yr old almost. He chases the hens not to mate either he also chases on the outside of their cage my chicks. Is this normal and why over night is he doing this? Nothing new has been added.

He has been ok lol. But not like this. He won't let me hold or touch him or the hens won't either. But these last few days especially today boy oh boy he is feisty! Lol

How old are the chicks?
They might be making him anxious.

Is he free range with the hens?
He may just be 'going bad'.

Maybe crate him for awhile?

I have my roo and hens in their own coop. It's big. I can't let any of them out on own due to neighbors and dogs. So inside are two more cages coops. That's how it's set up. If u can picture that

my roo jaxx is even getting skittish of me. Even tho I never can touch him from beginning he runs fast lol jumps and hips to side when I squat down to talk to him and try to reach out slowly. He wil look at me n if I get to close that's when he moves. He acts like he is missing something lookin for it that's only way to explain.

I wonder if maybe there was a predator trying to visit?

Are the chick on one of the other cages in the coop...how long have they been there?

I don't handle my roosters unless they need something done. They are expected to move out of my way as I walk through the flock, and not think bad thoughts about threatening me. If he's respectful of you and your space, that's good. If he is harassing or injuring the hens, move him on. Mary

The only predators could be my neighbors cats but no way inside their coop. I put the chicks outside that he stalks lol everyday. They wer from an incubator and I have had them inside since born. They are getting big enough to go outside now. But Iam also thinkn that maybe cuz I can seei have at least two Roos in them. Idk. Maybe cuz his fav hen is sitting on eggs now? I still let him now Iam boss but Iam gentle also. Cuz I read if confrontative to them then Roos will become more towards you is that correct? The chicks are going to remain outside now in separate coop within main coop with the other hen he's ok then like pecks on her kinda like a pecking order deal. I don't see him mating w her and she has stopped laying eggs. She is same age as roo
