I saw a beautiful design of egg carton of an Hungarian art student Otília Erdélyi (http://ounodesign.com/2012/07/28/new-egg-carton-design-by-hungarian-design-student-otilia-erdelyi/). I looked the pictures and finally figured out how to make one by myself. All I need just a piece of proper size cardboard, an oval cutter(not a cookie cutter, but an actually adjustable cutter with blade. You find a cheap one from Amazon.com very easily), and some glue.

The picture above is a building plan for one egg(large size). For one egg, the cardboard size is 14'' by 2.5''. The oval size is 2'' by 2.5'', circle size is 2'' by 2''. For half of a dozen, the cardboard size is 14'' by 15''. The wide of each color block is 1.5'', 1.5'', 2.5'', 3'', 2.5'', 1.5'', 1.5''.

This is what I made!

Not perfect because I did not have an oval cutter in hand. Next time I will build a much better one.

that's way cool! I dig it! you are going to get an oval cutter, I am guessing? I would love to see pictures of how that turns out!

What a great idea! You're inspiring me to come up with something. I knew there just had to be an alternative to the typical egg carton!

These are lovely. I would like to make some, but I don’t really understand your instructions. Could you elaborate? I am a little slow I guess.
