I'm really busy with chicks and ducklings of various ages and nursing a momma call duck that got attacked by a mongoose. It's a stretch for me to deal with another two call ducks that internally pipped last night, so I want to stick them under a broody muscovy that has been sitting on some infertile eggs (no drakes) for the past couple of weeks. I'm thinking I'll remove her infertile eggs and stick my two Call duck eggs under her so she can raise them.

Will this work?

It should, good luck and let us know how it goes. I always said my Muscovy's love to brood so much they'd probably sit on snake eggs.

Okay, here's an update. About 40 hours after their due date I got worried, pulled the eggs to check and got a bite/peck in the process. The eggs had externally pipped and sure enough they were shrink wrapped. So, I ran them up to my running incubator and intervened with their hatch (what an ordeal). Two days later here they are (the two black and yellow ones) hanging with a 4 day old and my 3 week old micro duck.

So, here's another question. Can young duckling be adopted by a broody muscovy? I know my chickens have done this on few occasions, I just don't know if a duck will.

I don't want to say an empathic no but ducks don't usually accept ducklings like chickens will take to chicks but there is always an exception so all you can do it try but stay right there in case she attacks.

Forgot to say how precious they are Congrats for all your hard work.

They are so sweet, i would proceed with massive caution, due to the extreme small size and delicate nature of young calls, it wouldn't take much of a scovie effort to cause harm.
