Hey lovely chicken folks,
I have a batch of speckled Sussex chicks who are 9 weeks today.
As they are getting pretty big its getting very cramped in our coop (with 3 others older ones too).
We know we are going to need to cull some cockerels.
Out of the 10 I'm pretty sure of some of their...
This summer we raised chickens for the first time. In May, our sixth grader brought home three newly-hatched chicks: two Buff Orpingtons, which turned out to be male, and a female RIR. I had to do a lot of the setup work (designing a coop in the space under a play structure and cutting the...
I have two 9 week old roosters/cockerels in need of new homes. Purebred gold laced polish and purebred lavender orpington purchased from a local breeder. I adore them both but have too many roos.
I have two 12-13 week-old cream legbar cockerels that I need to rehome asap.. we have raised them since they were chicks and they might even be brothers! They get along well so far but we need to rehome as we are not ready to own roosters and legally can’t keep more than 1 either. We only have 1...
We need to rehome several 6 -7 week old roos from our last three hatchings: 2 Ermine Ameraucanas, 2 Silverudd Blue (Black), 2 Silverudd Blue (Splash), 1 Silver Ameraucana, 1 Olive Egger (Lavender Marans x Shetland Hen), 1 Olive Egger (BCM X BBS Ameraucana), 1 Silver Double-Laced Barnevelder, 1...
Situated in Huddersfield UK, as you can see they are pretty friendly and warm up to you fast if you spend time with them!
Rehoming as we’re downsizing flock after our goose hatched some goslings - it’s been pretty easy to rehome chickens on Facebook but nobody wants to take cockerels 🥲 and I...
I have the last three Silkie Bantam chicks left. All are DNA Sexed cockerels and healthy. Awesome personalities! Hatched on February 6th, 2025 (2 months aka 8 weeks old). All are Frizzles.
Two Lavender aka Self Blue including Showgirl. Both are Pet Quality based on 6 extra toes. But other than...

I’m looking to rehome our 2 cockerels, we love them but they have been way too aggressive to our older goose and as it’s coming into egg laying season we fear they may break eggs or attack newly hatched goslings 😢
I’m hoping to find a new home for them to go to but not sure where to turn for...
It is almost 12 weeks and has been significany larger than all of its flock mates since about week 6 or 7. The rest of them barely have any comb to speak of that are of similar breeding. I’m thinking it’s a roo but curious if anyone else could weigh in from these photos.
Thanks!
Just want to take a quick sec to rant about how HORRIBLE my pullet-to-cockerel ratio is! :he
In my first batch of 20 hatchery chicks, only 7 were pullets (and one was eaten by a neighbor's dog. :hit)
My batch of 10 hatchery ducks only had 2 hens (and one of them doesn't lay, so basically one...
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I have kept chickens for over a decade. I was in my early twenties.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
21
(3) What breeds do you have?
I currently have 6 ISA Browns, 3 Welsumers, and 12 Pearl Star, all females
I have...
So my questions are this:
1: why Is my cockerel (6 months old) pecking the back of (only) one of my pullet’s head & back?
2: when will he calm down?
3: can I get him cartrated? If so, will it kill him?
4: what can I give to my pullet & cockerel flock as a treat every now & then
5: my ??? X...
I have several chickens for sale (or free, depending). I'm willing to travel up to an hour away to get them to a new home (especially the cockerels) and I'm based in Memphis, TN, so if you're in Arkansas or Mississippi we can probably work something out. I'm hoping to add pictures later...
