I want to grow corn for both me, my family, and are poultry but I'm having trouble find decent prices on trustworthy heirloom corn seeds. I want heirloom so I can seed save for hopefully years to come. So far the best place I can find is rareseeds.com. They charge $3.50 - $5 for 75 seeds...

we live on a farmstead and the field next to the coop has been recently harvested , would it be ok to gather corn husks, stalks and cobs for bedding in the coop? also at the moment, we only have 2 chickens in our coop, it is very large (garage) is there anything I need to do to keep them warm in...
