    New to chickens

We got eight Cream Legbars in Feb 2025 at 3-days old. We love them, and as I am retired they are a big part of my sanity. I researched a lot and then built a decent coop and run, and the ladies seem happy in there. Six boxes for eight birds and I use one for in-coop food and water. We're rural...

    🐔 🐥 ❤️ 💙 Can any Crested Cream Legbar experts help? 🐔 🐥 ❤️ 💙

Hi, This bird (Poppet) is supposed to be a purebred CCL, I may be wrong, however, I have just found a random light brown egg that I think may belong to her. Therefore, I was hoping you guys could give me some opinions on what you think of her from sight? Thanks to anyone that replies ❤️

    Sexlinked Crested Cream Legbar Crosses

I recently hatched out 6 Crested Cream Legbar cross hatchlings, paired with my Paint Ameraucana EE rooster. I didn't get any paint colored chicks from this pairing. They were all black with a dark chipmunk stripe. The cockerels have lighter beaks/legs + an obvious head dot. The pullets have...

    2yo hen doesn't lay

I have a 2yo Cream Legbar that does not lay. To date she has given us about 6 eggs total. I have 13 hens and 3 roos, in a 30x30 run, everyone is happy and healthy. Is there anything I can do? Or did I just get a dud of a hen?

What Breed/Variation is This Chick From Hatchery Order?

I just received an order from Mt. Healthy for 7 chicks. Like usual they included one extra. All chicks arrived safe and sound, and are very healthy and lively. I believe I have pinpointed the extra chick. In this picture there is an Australorp at the bottom, and a Speckled Sussex on the right...

    My flock is finally home

We are finally moved up to the homestead and about 90% of my flock is now up here, too. I AM SO HAPPY. For the last year, my flock has been at another farm while we were transitioning out of town and up into the homestead. They were not cared for well. Over winter, I lost 2/3 of the flock and...

What gender are these Cream Legbars?

I just hatched these Cream Legbar chicks last weekend. Having trouble figuring out which are males vs females. I have read that males are a lighter color w a white spot, but I see some darker ones w a white spot. I am hoping you can tell me from this picture. Thanks for looking!

    Help identify these pullets please

I have received a package of 10 chicks this morning. This is a "Hoover's Hatchery Live Rare Standard Package Chickens" order that was placed through TSC. There seems to be two breeds included. This is my first go at having chickens, so I wanted to get an expert's opinion on the matter or at...

    Cream Legbar - Interesting Comb

So this little girl is roughly 4 weeks old and is supposed to be a Cream Legbar (Hoover Hatchery chick from Cal Ranch) and obviously, supposed to be a girl. She was dark, had very clear chipmunk markings when she was small, etc. But, she's always had a bit of an odd comb. Has anyone seen a...

    Chicken with weirdly bad aim?

This is Peanut Hamper. I call her Pee Pee. She's (mostly) a cream legbar, and is very intelligent, but a little bit odd. Pee Pee's most major oddity is that she has terrible aim. If I hold up a mealworm, she will miss at least five times before actually fitting it into her beak. The lack of...

    Cream Legbar

Hello, We were given a cream legbar “rooster” and I’m starting to question whether he’s a rooster or a hen. He doesn’t crow, he’s always in the nesting boxes and he gets flogged like all the other hens. He hasn’t laid an egg that I’ve noticed. He hasn’t gotten much bigger since we got him. He...

    Hello from Vancouver Island!

Hello! I'm new to having chickens. We got 4 day-old chicks on April 21, 2024. Two Crested Cream Legbars, 1 Cinnamon Queen and 1 black sex-link. They're all now 6 months old. We had an old garden shed in our backyard so we tore it down and rebuilt it into a coop and enclosed run. It's pretty...
