I'm the guy who has the hen with the swollen oviduct. our vet says she may need to be on the meloxicam indefinitely and of course, i didn't think to ask about eating her eggs. she still lays every two days or so.
she's doing so much better after taking the enrofloxacin and being on the...
Hi everyone, I had to deworm all of my chickens for gape worm about a week ago (everyone is doing much better now!), but I read that there is an egg withdrawal period after deworming with fenbendazole afterwards. I have seen its anywhere from a week to 2.5 weeks. Either way, I wanted to ask if...
Hi All,
I have two chickens (a Roo and a Hen), who likely have Canker (mouth and esophogus lesions, Rooster has one eye closed for the past two days). The Rooster has ALWAYS sneezed on the reg since we got him last spring, and yesterday I noticed his right mouth corner had some build up...
I hate to toss them? But I can’t imagine they should be put in compost - wouldn’t that contaminate the compost? And if I cooked them up and fed to chickens, wouldn’t that be prolonging the withdrawal? Not to mention exposing the other girls to the antibiotics?
What do you do with the eggs laid...
I suspect my chicken Laverne has sour crop. Does anyone know if there is an egg withdrawal period if I treat her with miconazole? I can't seem to find an answer? 🤷
Thanks!
I have fed 1 hen Tetroxy HCA-280 For 1week. I now notice it says never to eat the eggs again according to the FDA. I called the company and they said it’s because it passes through the bloodstream not the gut. Has anybody eaten the eggs after a treatment of Tetroxy HCA-280???
Hello Fellow Chicken Lovers. A mobile livestock vet just left my home after inspecting my flock of 24 chickens. I have one white leghorn that has a serious case of gurgling and other weird sounds. The rest are sneezing and making unusual sounds also. This has been going on for a little less than...
Bathed a few chickens for a show. Marvelled on how clean their butt feathers were. A few days after saw some blood spots in the shavings. They all have what looks like bloody poo? Have 2 questions..could bathing somehow cause it?
A conversation at the fair with the judge and we assumed...
The pet shop gave me a Invermectin for mites. I put 2 drops on each hen's neck a week ago. Can I eat the eggs now?
One hen looks a bit red and sore under her neck. They are moulting at the moment but this particular one never has all her feathers. She is the only one that sleeps in the coop...
I’ve been keeping chickens for ten years or so, and I’ve never had to medicate for any reason. A couple of months ago, I bought five backyard hens from someone local, and after a few days, I noticed their fluffy butts were a bit poopy. After reading various posts on a FB chicken health group, I...
I have dealt with Coccidia before, but I'm not that familiar with it. I made the mistake of introducing a roo who i thought was clear of it in wit my main egg layers. I took him out immediately the next day after observing his droppings.
Now I noticed this. Not sure if this is early coccidia...
I found this article regarding the egg withdrawal for doxycycline in laying hens, but am I reading it correctly-14 day egg withdrawal?
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25876457/
Any idea how long for Fluconazole?
Thanks!
We have just finished 3 days of Tylan with our rooster and he is back in with the girls after 24 hours stopping his last dose. I can't find any answers to see if the eggs from the hens after they mate with him should be tossed or if they are safe to eat (not to give away). None of the hens...
I'm thinking of getting some DE to help fight the mite. In reading up, I've also read about using Eprinex Pour-On which sounds like a good option, too, either or in addition to. I already bit the bullet and bought and been using Elector PSP. I've cleaned out my coop of all wood shavings. I...
