Can anyone help me figure out what's going on with my gal's butt? I soaked her. Her parts don't look red, and there was no abnormal discharge. However, her butt is a hot mess. I am not sure what direction to go in. I thought maybe Gleet, but not sure.
We recently bought hens from someone online. After they were delivered to a friends house, I drove to pick them up (3.5 hrs)
Long story short they look to have vent gleet and 3 out of 5 have bumble foot. Do you agree? When talking to the previous owner she said they looked fine to her and would...
The ill chicken is an approximately 7 month old Buff Orpington hen. Her and the rest of the flock mates poop has been tested for parasites by the vet. No worms, protozoans etc. The vet did find traces of unbudding candida. That made sense since I initially thought she had vent fleet and treated...
I have a 3 year old isa brown. We saw blood all on her buttt area and thought it was from a predator but when I washed her up I saw she has two large swollen masses. She’s able to poop. It’s very watery white with some normal looking bird feces in it. She’s the one who ripped the top mass open...
Does this look like a prolapsed vent? I feel like i have bought everything to treat it but i just can’t figure out what it is. I feel so bad for her and She’s breathing so heavy and she pushes so hard to poop and just yellow discharge comes out… i have been cleaning it and moisturizing it, as...
I have been trying to rid my chicken of Gleet. I have bathed her, wiped it with a warm cloth, used monostat, put apple cider vinegar in their water, given them yogurt to eat and I can not get rid of it!
Help please!
Lisa
This is Lemonade, she is nearly 1.5 years old. I went out this evening to check on everyone and noticed she looked uncomfortable. I picked her up and found what appeared to be a prolapsed vent and some white diarrhea. SEE PICTURES, her vent was out more than it is in the pictures. I brought her...
I am new to a flock of hens and have 3 separated due to losing feathers and getting pecked by bullies. I have a couple pictures, bit they aren't the best. I am new to chickens all together and could use some suggestions.
Thanks so much
Nicole
Hi everyone. I have a year old hen that I think has gleet. She has always been one to have a “poopy butt” despite having good solid stools and occasionally needs a butt bath. A couple weeks ago I noted she looked dirtier than usual so bathed her. Two days later she looked just as bad. I didn’t...
Hi there my 1 year old hen has started getting a little bit of a poopy but the last few days and today i checked and she has this sticking out of her vent. It is hard and almost looks like maybe a malformed egg? I put some gloves on and tried to see what was going on and it seems to be stuck...
Hi, so I have a small flock on my back garden who just seem to always get sick
I’ve had them coming up a year, and we’ve already spent a couple of hundred pounds on vet bills. They’ve had parasites, they now have vent gleet, and they’ve seen the vets twice already now.
First it was new chickens...
Good morning. This is my first post. I am attaching photos. Not sure if this is gleet or something else. Peace's poops all look normal but her fluffy down feathers are missing and there is encrusted yellow/white on lower portion of her vent.
I have been giving epsom salt baths and O3 cream...
My 3 year old hen who is usually super excited about being fed was very unenthusiastic yesterday about feeding time. throughout the day she became lethargic. today she didnt want to eat at all and has been lethargic, and drinking a lot. She has started eating again, but i don't know what is...
My laying rescue pekin has a pretty swollen, irritated vent and I haven’t been able to find help anywhere else. She is still laying and acting relatively normal although she’s getting a little bit slower now that we are on day 3 and it isn’t looking any better. I don’t see any discharge & it...
Hi fellow backyard chicken friends,
This site has been a wealth of knowledge for me as we tend to our very small flock of backyard chickens, so I thank you. I am here once again to seek your wisdom.
A few days ago, we noticed our 3 year old RIR/White Rock cross wasn't coming out of her coop...
Hi all I'm a new member here and could really use some help. One of my Khaki Campbell girls had gotten Vent Gleet somehow and was having egg binding issues. I brought her inside and kept her in a large dog kennel covered so she had no light to get her to stop laying and treated her with Monistat...
My year old black broiler from Ideal Poultry has a not-so-fluffy butt. It does not stink, per se. It smells like a chicken butt. Not a foul chicken butt. She is on purina layer feed (and greens, bugs, sometimes a nibble at dog kibble). It has been in the 90s as far as weather. She is my...
Yellow-ish white stuff is oozing from the chicken's vent. We have a mixed flock of laying hens, four of which are Americanas. One of those Americanas had this stuff oozing from her vent - we looked it up, deduced it must be gleet, which we understand to be a yeast infection, but didn't catch it...
Hi all!
Earlier this year we lost our Black Australorp to a very bad case of vent gleet and starvation (she stopped eating).
Since then the 3 remaining hens have all come down with vent gleet about once a month or every 6 weeks. We bathe them, treat with an athletes foot cream, clean the coop...
