I just saw this article tonight & thought I’d share it here. It sounds like the in-ovo sexing will be in use soon. I bet it won’t be cheap, if you’ll pardon the pun!
First U.S. Egg Producer Commits to End Chick Culling by Fall
Hi everyone,
I just received a bantam mix from Meyer Hatchery on Tuesday 11/2 and this little cutie (I’m pretty sure she’s a mottled Cochin) was doing great the first day but yesterday she was barely walking around and never ate on her own. In the afternoon I got her to drink some...

Having been born to a 3rd generation poultry farmer, breeder, and hatcheryman, I have spent my entire life around chickens... Just like my father and his father before him, who's father started this whole thing. Being the only girl, and baby, after 10 boy cousins... I was dubbed the chicken...
Hello,
I've been thumbing through my new Welp brochure and they mention breeding towards the Standard. This got me thinking: Is it possible to order from any of the national hatchery's and end up with chickens that are Show Quality?
Or is that a Dreamer's Fantasy?
Thank you!
