I put my 10-week-old chicks out permanently yesterday, and I was letting them free range for the first time unsupervised today as they have been being taken out for about an hour a day for the last month, and I thought they would be safe, and I went out my lanai door, and some kind of grey/black...
How long does a mink usually wait to come around again after a failed attack attempt (it injured one of my birds) it’s been about 4 days and no sign of the mink anymore, but i’m not sure how long predators usually wait around for.
I’m making a new duck enclosure that will be chain link fenced in for 5 (maybe more) ducks. It includes a pond but i’m not sure how to deter snakes. I’ve looked up plants that deter snakes but don’t know which are safe for ducks. Should i put fish in the pond to eat frog eggs so there’s no food...
I have a sliding lock on the front of my coop door, like this one ⬇️
It doesn’t seem secure enough. I don’t have time at the moment to add another lock, is there anything I can do in the mean time to make it more secure?
Unfortunately I fear the worst has happened. Let my duck out today and went out to go get a late breakfast and exercise my dogs and go to store. Came home and I peaked out my sliding door to check on my duck as I usually do. Only this time I didn’t immediately see her. I didn’t worry at first...
Today I heard squawking coming from my free range chickens outside, and going out to look I saw what looked like a ferret chasing after one of my chickens while the other one stood still and squawked for help. It was either a mink or a weasel, I’m unsure, but I’m leaning toward mink. When I came...
I have a beautiful pond in my yard that I'd like the ducks to be able to swim and play in. But I also need to get them back into their pen (giant 12x16 structure) at dusk or they get picked off by local wildlife. It seems like I can't do both. Two nights ago they refused to come in off the pond...
They were inside a pen together with turkeys and chickens. When i woke up this morning, 30 of my ducks had died. The skin of their necks were removed. There were tiny punctures (in some) near their butt area. The chickens and turkeys were unharmed. What predator couldve killed the ducks?

My chicken coop is literally right next to my house. If I'm not mistaken weasels will not travel around us right? Especially if it's a house full of people and four dogs?
Hello everyone, I woke up this morning and seen rabbit hair all over the backyard, long wide strips of it everywhere. We have a lot of wild rabbits in our yard and I've never had a predator problem with my chickens in the 3 years I've owned them, but I'm kind of concerned after seeing this. Any...
