I have a pair of Light Brahmas around 14 weeks old. I’m thinking I have a pullet and a cockerel, but wanted to see what y’all thought. They look very similar but one holds their tail a bit higher and the combs look slightly different to me. I’ve included pics of them together and separate...
I have two Dark Brahmas that are around 14 weeks old. I thought both were pullets… but one recently started getting black feathers with a green sheen so I’m not sure any more. Please let me know what y’all think!!
Hey all! I know I could wait to hear the anticipated sound, but I’m getting anxious trying to determine if we need to move house to accommodate a possible rooster since we are currently in city limits (jk, kinda 😅).
We took a chance and purchased production blues from TSC. All the rest of our...
Hello! We raised four chicks to now 16 weeks old and thought all of them for sure to be hens. Our starlight green egger is now perhaps looking more rooster-like. We looked at her wings in the first week and were 100% positive she was a hen based off the two stepped wing. Her size and tail...
We got this Green Queen from Meyer Hatchery as a free “meal maker” layer chick. She’s got muffs and 5 toes.
We are really hoping she’s a pullet as she’s calm and friendly and we love her fluffy face.
She had big legs as a small chick but now is the same size as our Brahma chick who is...
I bought these Easter Eggers (she was calling them Olive Eggers, but I know that’s not right) about 5 weeks ago. They are 6 weeks old today. I know that there’s no way to tell for sure yet what sex they are, but some of you are so good at guessing that I thought I’d make a post and see how many...
Hello all! I have three birds that were born probably about March 12th ish, so they're about 6 weeks old now. They were sold as Americaunas, but as I bought them from a store for about $8 each I assumed they were Easter Eggers.
However, now i have some questions. The two I'm sure are pullets...
Here is my new flock! I have 5 Lavender Orpingtons (5 weeks old) and 3 Diamond Duchesses (4 weeks old - chicken math… I needed more), and I’m brand new to raising chickens. We’ve been talking about doing this for years, and now that my son is almost 3, we thought this would be a fun way to start...
Hi,
I had a broody Silkie EE and my neighbor gave me a fertilized egg.
Here is the chick at 14 weeks. I need to know if it is a roo or not. I am new to chickens and have not had a roo before - and really am unsure I want a roo. Hoping you can help identify that from these pictures. Along...
Hi all
So these two were 7 weeks old yesterday.
I was confident barred chick is cockerel, from yellow circle on head when new born, and down not jet black, and flatter ridge between beak and comb.
I thought other chick (part silver lace wyandotte) was a girl (but thought had Barred...
Hello! This is my first post so I hope I’m doing it correctly 😆 I’m raising my first chickens and bought 5 Golden Laced Wyandotte pullets but am hoping for 1 rooster.. I’m wondering what people think of these 2 chicks.. the darker one (red arrow) has more developed waddles that are turning red...
The chicken I know as Kitty Foreman looks more and more like Red Foreman to me, but what do I know?
Red feathers are everywhere, including several tail feathers, so I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the next unfurling! What do you think? Kitty or Red?
Per the pinned thread, I have...
I have a chance to get some beautiful Jubilee Orpington mixes that are about 10 weeks old. Can you tell if they look like pullets or cockerels? Both parents are said to be mixed Jubilee Orpingtons. They are the big birds in the last two pictures. Thanks!!
I think I can tell pretty well by the feathers, but just because this is mixed with a silkie, and it's so small, I can't see the comb by the feathering, I want to be sure. The mom is a silked EE, and the dad is a Black Swedish X Americauna for melanistic gene with blue eggs.
Is this a Male or...
Can someone help me confirm if the one with the red waffle and waddles forming is a cockerel and if the other one is with the yellow waffle and no waddles is a pullet , I was told they were around 8 weeks old
Hey guys,
I have three Black Copper Marans and one BCM/RIR cross that are about 3 weeks old and I want to know your thoughts on what I have. 🧐 I’ve read that BCM are pretty early showers of gender and I’m wondering if I have three boys…🤨
Number 2 definitely looks like a cockerel to me but the...
