Hello Everyone! Thanks for clicking on my post!
I'm in a conundrum.. I got 4 Ameraucana chicks out of TSC's 'Pullet' bin and 8 other assorted breeds. It's been 8 weeks to the day since I got this set of 12 chickens. Out of my 4 Ameraucana's, my sweet Arabella, has shown signs of a large red...
Hello! We raised four chicks to now 16 weeks old and thought all of them for sure to be hens. Our starlight green egger is now perhaps looking more rooster-like. We looked at her wings in the first week and were 100% positive she was a hen based off the two stepped wing. Her size and tail...
Hey all!! We got our chicks from a local feed store, marked pullets, but I know mistakes can happen. What I want to know is, are these 2 Polish roosters??? Their tail feathers look different from the others and they seem to be standing up taller than everyone else. The chicks in question are the...
I’ve been seeing here lately that my two 12 week old chickens have been acting pretty macho and having quick fights with one another. Can anyone tell me if they’re hens or roos? They are the white chicken and the black/orange one.
I was given this chicken and I am unsure of the breed and sex. Believe it's a sex link.
I'm leaning rooster by the tail and spurs. About 14 weeks old.
I was told its a pullet. I posted photos for reference.
No noise yet.
I hatched 18 chicks of which I am sure that 8 are pullets and 7 are cockerels. However, I still have 3 of which I am unsure of. The first two chicks grew their feathers relatively quickly and are almost fully feathered, but their combs are suspicious. The third chick grew its feathers quicker...
Hi! Couple weeks ago I posted some chicks on here and am now looking for some updated assistance on them.
#1 black chick: the comments said BJG. I am not fully convinced on that as we now have some white coloring in there as well. Thoughts? Also I’m very certain rooster but feel free to tell me...
Both of these birds are around 4-5 months old.
Torchic (name, breed unknown):
Ember (name, breed Prairie Bluebell Egger?):
Help is greatly appreciated.
If you know other useful methodes - please add them to this thred.
In my new YouTube-video (linked below) I explain 10 methods on how to identify male and female chicken chicks. Some are only good hints – some are 99% proof. Its really nice to know early whether or not your chick is a rooster...
Hello everyone..!
I am very new to silkie chickens..
I am sure the the gray silkie (Ghost) is a rooster.. he is crowing.. the browns (Cinnamon and Nutmeg) and the grey came from the same clutch and same age 6 months old, the white Elvis is only 5 months.. And Elvis is from a totally different...
This chicken is about 14 weeks old. I think it might be a Rooster but not sure - the tail feathers have a slight green sheen on them, which makes me worried that its a rooster.
This chicken was purchased from TSC, as an Asian Black Chicken, in mid March. From what I have read, it will transition to all black with iridescent blue and green.
Until this it's been a fairly calm and quiet chicken. Now the crowing has begun. So I'm trying to figure out if it's a rooster...
First time chicken mama here! Our 9 Buff Orpington are almost 7 weeks now. Not sure if this little lady is maturing faster than the others or if she’s possibly a rooster, any votes?
