6 week old Russian Orloff - sexing

Hey all, I have two Orloffs about 6 weeks old. I’ve never had the breed before so I don’t know what I’m looking for as far as signs, in terms of sexing. This is the bigger of the two; looks totally prehistoric IMO, lol. Do they develop slow? Both have no signs of a comb or wattles.

    Spangled Russian Orloff Chicks?

Hello! I stopped at my local chick store because they were supposed to get a shipment in with Russian orloffs. The gal working pulled out some dark colored (almost back chicks) and I said I don’t think that’s right. The other in that bin were what I thought the hatchery photo for their Russian...

    Which hen do I keep?

I have a Welsummer and a Russian Orloff. They are both 6 months old. The Welsummer is social and is fun to have but she’s very feisty and has been pecking at the Russian Orloff to the point of the Orloff having no more fathers around her neck and we saw blood for the first time, which is what...

    Spangled Russian Orloff??

I’ve attached some pictures of my new baby girl Biscuit. Biscuit is an energetic and very loud little chick. She’s over three weeks old now and lives with two baby Easter eggers and a Wyandotte of the same age with no problems. She is a pretty dark brown in colour with no spangling yet that I...

    12 Week Old Russian Orloff

Help! I bought 4 chicks (2 partidge rocks and 2 Orloffs) back in February, then went back a week later and bought 2 more (an Easter egger and a cuckoo maran). They were all supposed to be females but I’m starting to think my orloff isnt a pellet…. Sally (Sal) is the same size as all the other...

    Ahoy-hoy! Thanks for having me!

    (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I had chickens when I was very young and am getting back into them. I'm focusing on Russian Orloffs while I work on a Michigan-specific breed based on their temperament and cold-tolerance. (2) How many chickens do you have right...

Ayam Cemani and "Russian Orloff" Need sexing ASAP

I have a week-old Ayam Cemani chick and a possible 4 week old Russian Orloff. They were given to me to raise and I'm afraid I cannot add either of them to my flock if they are roosters. I cannot even confirm the brown chicken is a Russian Orloff. I've never raised chicks before but I currently...

Russian Orloff Pullet holding out on us

Hi! I have a 37 week old Russian Orloff pullet who is holding out on us & will not lay an egg (lol). She had a pretty severe inner ear infection around 15-20ish weeks, and was on sulfamethoxazole for 2 weeks or so. Any word on if that can prevent laying or severely delay it? she’s healthy and...

    New to Chickens!

We rented a house on a ranch, so I decided to buy some chickens. I just went to the feed store and they said they had some Russian orlaff chicks. I posted a thread asking are these Polish because they definitely do not look like Russian orloffs. I am really enjoying them.2.5 weeks. Extra toes.

14 week old breed + gender? (Russian Orloff? EE? Mixed?)

Hello! I am wondering if this chickie is a Petunia or a Petey and what breed they might be. I thought EE at first, but now I think Russian Orloff. Or mixed?! "Petunia" was a little chipmunk chick as a baby and is now about 14 weeks old. I figure I should know in the next few weeks, but I can't...

Russian Orloff: 12 weeks- Gender help :(

Hi chicken community, I'm ready to stop being in denial, the feathers on the tail just keep growing... I'm almost positive this is a cockerel due to the saddle feathers, but there's no comb or red color, it's just pink and flat 🤷‍♀️ I love this baby so much, such a personality and makes me...

Anyone know what kind of chickie this baby is? She was labeled as "russian orph", whatever that is 🙄. The guy said Orpington, but I'm not so sure about that either 🤷🏼‍♀️

Documenting the growth of my Russian Orloff chicks.

Looking on youtube I couldn't find many videos of Russian Orloff chicks so I am going to post daily videos of my three chicks to show them growing up and how they look throughout their growing process. I am hoping these are actual Russian Orloff chicks, the local store I bought them from was not...
