Pros and Cons of Sand on run with plywood flooring

I'm new to this and have been trying to figure out the best material to put down in the run I'm finishing up which will have a plywood bottom. I've heard conflicting opinions of sand and am curious on everyone's experience with it. Thanks ahead of time!

Is Infill sand okay for the run?

Hi we are just finalizing our coop and run before we move the chicks in there next week! I was going to use sand in the run and shavings (deep litter) in the coop area but wondered about kind of sand that’s okay. We have leftover infill sand from some artificial turf projects and it’s pretty...

Would anyone currently using river sand...

Hi everyone! I am brand new here, and only have had my girls for about a month. They are ready to move outside but I am having the hardest time deciding what to use in the run of my coop. I have 4 chickens, and live in Charleston, SC. It rains A LOT here, especially in the summer/fall. I...

Those who use sand in their coops/runs!

What is the name of the sand that you have? I’m having a hard time finding sand from any of the places near me. I have asked for triple wash, bank run and construction sand. One place I just called said they only have screened field sand which I think is limestone.
