We have finally gotten 6 chicks for the first time. We picked up from a local breeder, straight run.
They are 4-ish weeks old at this point. She had Barred Rock and RIR males. Barred Rock, Buff Orp and RIR females. These three barred chicks are my constant question......two pics of each. Roo or...
Hello,
We have 3 chicks- 2 x Barnevelder and 1 x Plymouth Rock.
Hoping they are all pullets, and I have been searching through everyone’s photos here- but not sure as we don’t have any others to compare with! They are about 4 weeks old (the Plymouth Rock is about a week younger).
Thanks!
I know it's still a bit early to try to be determining sex, however I have seen some people say they can see a difference with this breed at about 3-4 weeks. These are splash isbars from Alchemist Farm and they are right around the 4 week mark, maybe a couple days older. If anyone has experience...
I have a 4 week old Serama that I am wondering if anyone can tell if it’s a roo or hen, the breeder mentioned all her breeding hens have very large red combs for the breed too to make it even more difficult 😉
Hello Chicken Nation! I’m super curious on the gender of my Serama babies. Any guesses will be appreciated plus you get to see some cute chicks!
# 1. Silky. Pretty sure a Roo. Stands tall and comb grew very early. Also biggest in size.
# 2. Mottled frizzle. I’m thinking a Hen. Very gentle. Not...
This is my Gold Laced Barnevelder who is 4 weeks old and i've been skeptical whether its a rooster or not. Please tell me if there are any indicators of its gender. The comb is pretty big for it's age but i don't know much about sexing chickens.
Here are the pictures
These little ones are 4 weeks old. Just for fun, I see pullet (blue copper marans) pullet (mystery chick) roo (olive egger or golden cuckoo marans). What do you see? They are all meant to be girls but that doesn't mean much in the chicken world :p This is my first hybrid so maybe my sexing...
This is a 3½ week old chick. She has no wattle growth, but the pink comb is a bit suspicious. :hmmI would like your opinion about that. The flock has already a VERY noticeable rooster, but could this lad be a roo too?
the breed is probably a leghorn × finnish landrace, or what do yall think?
I have 4 chicks that are about 4 weeks old and would love to see if anyone had any ideas about whether they’re hens or roosters! I know 4 weeks might be too early but the suspense is killing me and I have no idea about sexing chicks so thought I’d see if anyone had any ideas! We have two...
Anyone wanna give sexing ago for these 3? They're about 3.5-4 weeks old
I know they're still relatively young, but I suspect these might be roosters 😔 I really hope they're not otherwise I have to find a new home for them since they're not allowed in my district.
I think they are almost 4 weeks old. We got them on march 6th and they had some wing feathers already so assuming a hatch date of around February 26th.
Any insight on gender? The last one is a bit bigger and fiestier than everyone else.
I have a pure bred khaki Campbell and one that is KC mixed with either Pekin or crested duck. The mixed one still only makes peeping sounds while the other one has started to make weird noises, like a quiet quacking sound almost but not really a quack. I’m also curious if anyone can confirm...
This forum was immensely helpful with sexing my young RIRs! I have four new Easter Eggers that I was told were about 4 weeks and likely hens. I wanted the help of this community since this is a new breed for me. Thanks in advance! Oh! PS question- how early do you all start introducing mealworm...
Hello,
I am a new chicken owner and have a straight run of 7 Lavender Orpington Chickens. We bought seven in hopes of having at least two hens. We are almost sure that 4 are cockerels and at least one is a pullet. We are unsure of 2 but leaning towards cockerel for one and completely unsure of...
Hi everyone - long time chicken keeper, first time chick mama!
Wondering if anyone can take a guess at the gender of these three chicks. Up until a few days ago I was convinced the black pekin was a pullet and the white pekin was a roo - black pekin was by far the most timid and had a more...
Hi all!
New chicken owner here (obviously. ;-)) Here are my two Maran 'Pullets'- a Black Copper Maran and Cuckoo Maran, both about 4 weeks old in these pics. I'm not great at sexing chickens, but I feel like the Black Copper Maran is a roo- comb is now 2x as big as the Cuckoo Maran's, and...
