Anyone out there in a cold, northern climate ever have asils go broody and hatch chicks in the winter?
Just had two sister hens go broody on two nests, one hatched December 26-28th, 8 healthy chicks, the other went broody on Christmas.
Normally I would’ve collected the eggs...
My little Ira is a bantam Cochin with extra toes! She came as a mystery chicken mixed in with the ones I ordered. She is very sweet and outgoing, and she has proven to be a reliable layer.
But now... she has gone broody? Already? When it's just getting cold?
