Hi guys!

I'm Áliqui. I have 5 chickens as pets. one of them is now 8 YO called Jovelina... she had a sis that died a few weeks ago with 8 YO, so i bought 4 new sisters for her. Jovelina was very happy, started to talk again but now she is not eating, loosing weight and sleeping all the time... i guess we'll loose her very soon... I'm feeding her in a spoon with growth food, because i don't know wht else to do... their breed is Brahma. I'm suspecting one of the new chickens brought a desiase to the coop... i have chickens since 2014 but my MIL is a famous canary breeder (and she has 4 published books about it, so i learn a lot with her about disease prevention and management) well i live in a big city next to Rio de Janeiro, in a house with a little backyard and 7 border collies (i'm a dog trainner and a breeder), but in a few months me and my husband are moving to a bigger place (a wildlife preservation area with a lot of snakes...) where we'll have goats, guinea fowl and more dogs! Thanks for having me here!

Welcome to BackYard Chickens from all the way in Maine, USA! It is very nice to meet you! I'm sorry about your loss, that has to be very hard for you and your hen Jovelina. :hugs:hugs
Thanks!! for me it was ok... she had a good life. She was old.. I'm happy she didn't suffer... she died in the night and she was really happy and healthy the day before... and she was blind, so she was not having the best life she could... she was always beeing guided by Jovelina... But Jovelina was sad to be alone... now she is happy with her new sisters, but weak...

Glad to meet you, Aliqui, and welcome to BYC. I am so sorry about Jovelina and her sister. It's hard to lose an animal you have cared for so long!

Congratulations on your new country home! Best wishes keeping the snakes out of the hen house. I am sure your border collies will be willing to help with your new animals. Sounds like wonderful plans!

thanks! It's sad, but i guess it was better this way... i was worried about her adaptation at the new home... she was already blind, so... i guess destiny found a way to solve the issue... she had a happy and long life...
