I'm glad this worked out for Hunter, but this made me a little bit crazy:

shelter does not take family surrendered dogs, they only take dogs that they find abandoned

It just encourages people to abandon their unwanted dogs! People are trying to do the responsible thing, and this is what they are told?!? This is nuts!

Exactly. I would think they would be ready to accept them. When they reject surrendered dogs, people will abandon them so the shelter HAS to take them, and that puts the dog through alot of suffering.
