Welcome. I love your statement of "teach our children how to give in order to get". I am raising my grandson and homeschooled him in high school. He is now in his first year of college.(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We are new chicken owners! Got our chickies from the local farm store 3 days ago.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
So many things! We are excited to love and care for these beautiful animals, to continue on our journey of creating a self-sufficient, self- sustaining home, to teach our children how to give in order to get, to watch these interesting creatures grow and thrive, so many things!

Gardening and landscaping, reading, guitar, yoga
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Family of four, one girl and one boyWe homeschool so I stay home with the kids. We have two German shepherds, Jax and Wilma
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I stumbled upon BYC while researching various chicken-related questions. Now that we have our own little flock I thought it was time to join in on the discussions!
