Hello BYC Community!
I have some concerns with Bernadette (Berns for short, pic below), my beautiful buff orpington. Berns has been laying soft eggs for the past one or two weeks. I have 3 other lovely ladies and they all have access to oyster shells 24/7 but show little interest in them. Therefore, on a monthly basis I crush up some shells into a fine powder and mix it in with some yogurt or applesauce and the ladies eat it right up. I did this last weekend actually and made sure Berns ate a good portion. They also are given Purina Layena feed so I know from a nutrition standpoint they are getting what they need.
Any idea why Berns is still laying soft eggs? She’s acting 100% normal otherwise. Is there a cure? (All the ladies are almost 1.5 years old now)
Thanks!
