Today was my last big hatch of the season for my Blue Copper Marans. I am not keeping the Black Coppers that result from the Black to Blue matings. Hatched today are 21+ Black Copper Marans chicks out of the Black Copper male to Blue Copper females. I will only ship the entire group. My normal price on these is $8 each. For today (Monday 5/20) through tomorrow (Tuesday 5/21) these are $4 each, times 21 is $84 plus shipping and a $15 box fee. Your choice to ship Express Mail or Priority Mail. I can only tell you the exact shipping cost after I have your zip code but Express runs around $40 and Priority is about 1/2 that. So your total will run you in the neighborhood of $120 to $140. If I receive payment today by 1:30 MST I still have time to take them down to the PO. Tomorrow payment must be made by 1:30 as well. This classified ends tomorrow. These are newly hatched chicks and must go out soon so they have their yolk to sustain them. They are extremely big, vigorous chicks, all have feathered legs and toes. Do you still have them? I'd be really interested in them? Do they produce the very dark eggs? I hear some chickens are breed for really dark eggs while others are not as dark.

I bred 4 Blue Copper hens to one Black Copper cock. 3 of the 4 blues were laying what I would call a light chocolate colored egg. The 4th one was laying a darker light chocolate egg. I have yet to see a true dark chocolate egg, like the Marans egg chart #8 or 9. I think those are rare to be found in the U.S. I do breed for egg color. I don't breed any hen that is laying only a 2 or 3. My Blue Coppers also lay nice big eggs, large to jumbo sized, especially one hen, she lays a lot of jumbo eggs but those don't hatch as well. With the Blue mated to the Black, the egg color should be good.
