We have decided to reduce our flock down to only our Murans and my 2 little white polish pet chickens. We have 2 sets of heritage breed chickens we would like to find good homes for. These are not for butchering. They can be bred and are good sturdy stock for egg laying. The first set are Java's. One Java rooster and a Java hen. Java's are the second oldest breed in the country and just recently came off the endangered list. They are still on the critical list. They are hardy in any temp and are very good foragers and layers. The roo Bart (as in Black Bart) is sweet tempered and a gentleman with the ladies. All of our chickens are used to free range and are very healthy. Originally these cost us $100 for the pair last fall. We want them to go to a good home.
The second set is a pair of Dominiques. These also just recently came off the endangered list, but are still on the critical list. Again, these are for breeding stock. Dominiques are the oldest breed in the US. They are very hardy and good foragers. Herman (roo) is very sweet and gentle. He takes very good care of his hens. He will come with Henretta who is a good layer. We won this matched pair last fall at the Indy poultry show. Again, these are expensive birds and not meant just for butchering.
We want them all to go to good homes. I do not want to ship them! They are free to a good home but you must come pick them up here near Peru, Indiana. Your welcome to call me if you have any questions at 765-244-7140 I highly recommend that if you don't know about these breeds that you do some research before committing.
