I was given 6, two day old ducklings May 13, they are 10 days old now and all but 1 is growing. The 1 duckling is 1/2 the size of the others and walks like a struggling penguin. She can get to the water and over to the food. Also can travel around the brooder but dose stop every few steps and plunks down to rest. She walks with her wings out and shivers all the time. I was told she might have niacin problems and so I went out to buy some Niacin pills (100 mg) to add to her water.

2gallon water container

I have a bantam hen that has taken them under wing and is with them all the time.
I will give you what I have on my little girl:
10 days old
feed starter for ducks
breed: runner
Drinks: fine
Eats: fine
Poop: normal
Eyes: clear
Bill: normal
Pads of feet: small but straight
Legs: look normal but dose not stand on them straight
Runs: wobbly and not to far

Dose anyone know of Niacin problems that they might help me with information.

Question: can I put the Niacin in the water that they all drink including the hen?
And how much would I put in?
I have had chickens for years but this is my first time with ducks.
If anyone could help me with this problem it would be great.
Thanks.

If your using a 2 gallon waterer then use 200 megs of Niacin and make sure it's plain niacin not flush free. but for ducklings because they need to dunk their heads completely into water to clean their eyes and nares you may want to go to a different kind of waterer. and yes mama hen can have the niacin water too. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/426909/non-spill-duckling-waterer/10http://metzerfarms.blogspot.com/2011/03/are-my-ducklings-leg-problems-due-to.html
