We had a teenager hen have wry neck. Shes a polish. I ran to the tractor store for goat gel selenium in a strung tube for oral administration and after a day of cuddling her and isolating ina. “Garage girl” hospital metal trough w food and water she recovered w no need for the selenium. One friend said maybe oecked or bopped in the head. But yours isnt a foo foo head so not sure why shed have wry neck. The article i read said others will pick peck and boop their feathery heads. Our flock also showed no signs in any other birds. They were born in march 2023.

Im praying for your hen!!!!✝️✝️🙏🏽🙏🏽💕💕🩷🌸🌸🌱🌱
Thank you so much!

I'd keep doing what you're doing.

A bit of beef liver can be given daily to help with the anemia. Does the Vet have any suggestions as to why she's anemic? Worms, Mites?
Thank you- she did not

I however have researched everything on this. I don't see mites on her and know the other cause of anemia can be from toxicity. I am giving her electrolytes now and will head out for beef liver when the store opens today. I really want her to start eating on her own. I worked on more solids yesterday, scrambled eggs and sardines in addition to her mash diet.

Could all these symptoms be a result of anemia?

Penny loves to preen whatever I miss getting into her mouth by feeding her. We have fed her about a tablespoon of chopped up beef liver this morning. She is comfortable in her sling and hanging out today. Legs and wings are strong, she is alert and attached photo is her poop from this morning. Thanks for everyone's love and support for Penny Marshall ❤️

I just started her on 400 IU of vitamin e and B complex should it be nutrition related/wry neck. She is very weak now and her toes are curling under. Any thoughts as to what this could be? She didn't want to eat the scrambled egg I just made for her and has no interest in water. I fear she is going downhill fast- thanks for any help.
Do you have a wildlife vet, exotic vet or bird specialist any where near you? This is accelerating so quickly I don’t know if you have time to solicit advice from our online group. Please keep us posted.

I kept a hen alive for 5 weeks when she was confined to a basket, not standing and would not drink water, by making a small bowl of watery feed for her twice a day. She took some crumbles, some egg, cottage cheese, canned cat food, and tuna, but lots of water in it.

How is Penny doing since the weekend?

I am happy to report Penny started eating on her own today and is gaining strength overall! She is such a lovely hen I am glad I was able to nurse her back to health. I will continue to keep you all updated of her progress. I really think that it was a nutritional deficiency and the rooster booster poultry cel really perked her up considerably. I think it was a riboflavin related...
