10 day old chicks on newspaper OK????

I am thinking of putting my 10 day old tomorrow (20th March) chicks on newspaper. Now they are on paper towels. What do you think?? 49 RIR and 6 banties. Thanks,

Nope, newspaper is too slippery. You need to get them on pine shavings. It will smell much better, trust me! I put mine on shavings at a couple days old.

Make sure it is pine too! Cedar is often toxic to chicks

I line the bottom of my brooder with newspaper and put a good layer of pine shavings over the newspaper. I do it this way for easier cleanup because when you need to clean the brooder out, all you have to do is roll it up in paper! Yes I like easier!
