Hi, my name is Jessica, and I have 10 hens, but I am in a situation where I am no longer able to support them. My parents and I own them, but my mother is determined to kill them on a whim, and refuses to care about my feelings in the matter completely. I have grown up in a household where none of my wishes or hopes in any matters at all were ever considered when they went against that of my parents in any way, and this is no different. I have tried to offer staying in the house 24/7 taking care of the hens and making sure they are no trouble, to no avail, and they refuse to reconsider any other options.

I am in my late 20s, and on top of my family's wish to kick me out into the streets without any consideration, I am desperate to find a place to stay for my hens so that I no longer have to worry about them. I have been desperately trying to find places for them, as they are the world to me, and I refuse to let them go somewhere that I cannot be sure will treat them right. On top of that, I have no job, and I don't think I have any ability to find work within a month without searching frantically, and I cannot do that while my 10 hens are going to be killed once I leave the house permanently tomorrow.

I have only today, and if there is anyone out there who could help me do something about this matter, I would be glad to hear from them as soon as possible. I have already moved my major belongings out of the house to a trusted friend's place, since I do not trust my parents or family with them either, so now my main concern is with that of my hens. I refuse to give them up to death, so I wish to give them a good place to stay temporarily, even if that means giving them away for some time.

I would be happy to give all the information about the hens and their temperament, what they like to eat, etc. and their conditions to the person who helps, and I do wish to return to take care of them permanently once I can stand on my own two feet and have a place for them, but I am very certainly to become without a home or place to stay tomorrow, and I wish to not have to worry about my hens once I have to deal with all of that.

The ten hens are as follows.

4 Rhode Island Reds

1 Barred Plymouth Rock

1 Dominique

1 Buff Orpington

1 Unknown, moderately large hen, very colorful orange with patterns and lays light cream to white eggs {still trying to identify the exact breed(s)}

1 Sebrite

1 Black Silkie

If you're near San Jose and have the means to help and are interested in such an arrangement, please contact me via phone (408) 307-8833 or email me at [email protected].

Did you find somewhere for them? If you could get them to Bakersfield (about 2.5jrs north of me) I could take them

If you still have the Dominique my mom said she can live with our family and will pay for the shipping...

I would love one of the Rhode Island Reds. I have been looking for a good hen for weeks, are you willing to ship to Michigan?
