10 weeks old and off to the processor this morning!

Our red broilers finally got to 10 weeks old, and DH and I just loaded them up and off to be processed. I am anxiously waiting till he gets back to see how much they weighed. The processor told us that he could do all 27 in 2 hours or so, so it wont be too much longer til he gets back.

Those red broilers look similar to my production red layers. What are they? I have looked in all the "read more" sections on the hatchery sites, but they don't tell you what they are other than red broilers.

I'm not sure what they are - Ideals red broiler mix.
DH just got back from the butcher - the smallest was just at 3 lb and the largest was almost 5 lb. I maybe should have kept them for another 2 weeks, but this was our first shot at raising them, and Ideal suggested 10 weeks.

I am quite happy tho, as they sure look nice - not too fatty - and for just the 2 of us a good size, altho next time i think we'll try the cornish x to see how they turn out.
