I got 5 “straight run” lavender Orpingtons about 10 weeks ago. Can someone confirm what I’m already thinking. Just one of these is a pullet? Or 4? Thanks.

Lavender Orpington pullets get red combs a lot sooner than other varieties. I had some I swore were cockerel, but they were pullets, so I wouldn't go by comb alone on these. I see no signs of rooster feathering which tends to show up by 3 months of age. I'm going to say they are all pullets from my experience keeping this breed.

I had a LOrp I swore was a cockerel. She is still laying eggs 😆 Her flock mate did turn out to be a boy but the difference was obvious by three months. Here is a thread I started on it-it’s worth following to the end to see the pictures of the one I thought was a cockerel next to the one that actually is. I think their raggedy feathers make it difficult to see rooster specific feathering sometimes the lesson I learned was not to judge by an early comb. Hope this helps.

Almost 14 wks old now. What’s the consensus on these new pictures? Thanks!

Yikes. I don’t want to be overly confident because lavender is such a frayed feather mess when it’s growing out but I see a lot of cockerel things going on with the feathers now. And those combs and wattles are mighty red for 10 weeks. So I’m going to say cockerels. And one pullet.

We just got a "straight run" lavender orphington as well, yet "she's" growing spurs and crowing (it sounds like something dying):barnie
I'd say you've got at least three cockerels, I think the other two might be pullets but I'm not sure.
