I put 8 eggs in the incubator only 7 were fertilized, all 7 hatched. All but one which is in the incubator drying now as it just hatched are happily being mothered by a broody hen in the coop. I used a Little Giant Incubator with fan and egg turner and just used the thermometer and hygrometer provided. This is not what I was expecting for my first try.

While I'm pleased you're had a successful hatch I can't help but ask why didn't you let the broody hen hatch them?

She went broody in the 21 days they were incubating. I had planned to brood them in the house but I saw an opportunity and I took it. Her eggs weren’t developing, I’m not sure why. I thought that would be obvious, I had/ have several broody hens on eggs. Wanted these eggs specifically to hatch.

Congrats! :thumbsup 100% is so rewarding. The smaller the batch the easier to achieve but still a challenge for anybody.

It was my first attempt so I didn’t want to load the thing full. I actually didn’t expect to get this many, I had heard so many bad things about the Little Giant I expected one maybe 2. I’m sure it was beginners luck! I’m going to try again with my Easter Eggers.
