We have several 11 week old swedish flower hens. One of them had signs of coccidiosis at the end of June, they were all treated, and he made a full recovery.
They are finally spending overnight in their coop, after a lot of stress getting an alternative to the Eglu that turned out to be a hot box. The first night was fine, second night, I came out in the morning to let them into the run and this little guy was on his side, alert but not moving, in a nest box.
I have a camera set to record with any big movement, and as far as I can tell he was fine, sleeping with the group, got up a few times, then in the early morning just laid down and didn't want to move.
Their run has a big industrial fan, heavy shade cloth, and cool water stations. It was hot yesterday and today, but none exhibited any signs of heat stress. They all peeped around, occasionally lounging in front of the fan. Today, this little guy didn't want to move at all. He just wanted to sleep. He kept face falling forward and passing out. He got up a couple times when forced and demonstrated the ability to walk, and laid there with his head up for a little while, but he wouldn't eat or drink anything.
I gave him nutridrench early on. I tried to get him to drink water, but he was not interested. He half pecked at some food I offered. His crop felt normal, but pretty empty.
I brought him in for the night and have been giving him drops of sav a chick on his beak that he does drink. He's still very lethargic and hasn't moved from where I put him. He was sleeping a lot, but now he's having these episodes of panting and made a couple of kind of squeak noises (couldn't capture that on video unfortunately). This is interspersed with sleeping/unconsciousness.
I'm afraid he's not going to make it. I don't know what's wrong.
If anyone has any thoughts, please let me know. I'm already bracing myself.
