Any idea what breeds our 11 month old cockerel, named Clinker, is mixed? I’m assuming polish with the ‘poof’, but the massive comb is new to us and not sure what breed that would be from?

He is quite friendly, but can get over amorous with the girls and they are getting damaged feathers - any ideas?

Oh thank you, I haven’t come across a crevecoeur, but he does look quite similar!
I wasn’t sure if it was a walnut comb with it being quite so big and knobbly...

It's not quite a walnut comb. It has the double tips like a V comb has, but is fat like a walnut. It's definitely much larger than I've seen. Rose combs can get big and wide like that. It's definitely a different type than I've ever seen.

Thanks for coming back to me... no I couldn’t find any similar pictures anywhere. Do you think there’s anything I should be worried about him having a big comb?
I’m not a chicken novice, but we haven’t had cockerels before. We had him since a day old, and he’s now 11 months. He’s quite friendly, and also noisy(!). He does seem to bash his comb often as we see small blood scabs that we think come from when he scratches around under the bushes etc as he is free ranging in our garden.

If you get really cold where you are at it could get frostbite in winter. He could injure it a bit more with it being bigger, and it may affect his vision somewhat. Those are the downsides I can think of.
