just got home form work, and found my embden Goose Norman/a missing, so I decided to grab the handgun and go look for her, well I found a clump of feathers no body...

I figured the fox, she norman/a'was calling all morning from about 4am...I went out but couldn;t see anything, I'm guessing the fox was watching me...

So I have lost two geese in one week. I have two geese on nests. Now I have to decide how to protect them?

I wish my husband was around, sometimes I wish me and the farm would come before his job... My two fav geese as well...

Im sorry but htat fox has cost me too much livestock in a month for it to survive.
12 chickens, 1 turkey, 2 geese...

I'm so sorry you've lost so many of your birds. Why is it predators always get the favorites?

sorry about your birds.
Kill the fox, it'll just be back for more.

I've been after this fox for about three weeks. got my gun out but now its got sneaky!

Look slike it will be a late night tomorrow...have to stay up to get it...long weekend.

I could call in sick tomorrow...

My understanding is that a goose should be able to take on anything from a racoon on down, presumably including a fox. Am I wrong were foxes are concerned or is it possible it was a coyote. The latter can be easily kept out with normal fencing. I am using a goose to guard my chickens and so far have had no problems. Everybody is inside a fenced area but I suppose it is conceivable that an animal that can climb can find a way in. The goose is my back up. I am planning on ordering several more to protect my chickens. Is a goose vulnerable to anything other than a coyote?

I am guessing fox that ate the geese but I know it was fox that ate the chickens as I smelt him, that horried musty smell they leave over everything! and I have been watching this one for about three weeks.

Im doubting Coyote, not many in the Alaskan Taiga Forest I don' t think. I think they are more open flat land like the Tundra?

But it could have been a wolf, but Im thinking unlikely, no tracks at all on the property. But you never know?

I thought the same about geese, and im not sure if Alaskan Foxes are more/ bigger/ stronger due to the environment they live in?

I have a pen area but have had females on nests so they have been free raging...can't move the remianing two...and looking for help to build a pen around the nest
We will see...

what type of geese are you considering? Im buying some Chinese as guards for my flocks now as they are some bad a** geese!

And have someone to help me steakout (spelling?) the fox this weekend!

definately put some traps out when it's too dark to shoot!

Sorry to say a coon will kill a goose. Coyotes, dogs, are a couple more that come to mind. Geese are great watchdogs, but have their limits. I love my geese and I hope I never have to live anywhere again that I can`t have geese. Just lost my head goose who was also one of my 2 originals. Had him for years. Broke the whole families hearts.........Pop
