This is our first time using an incubator for hatching eggs, we have always used a broody in the past years. I set 12 eggs but I do have a question..... on day 7 when I candle would it be best to pull all 12 eggs out at the same time? In my mind I'm thinking this makes more sense rather than opening, closing the incubator 12 times :idunno
Thanks! :frow

Anyone? I know it's a silly question but just making sure we're doing this correctly

Taking all 12 out at once is fine. But me personally, I would do whatever I'm doing with them as quickly as I can and get them back in........

I have 12 shipped eggs in my bator now, due to be candled tomorrow...I always open the bator and candle each egg, (and usually weigh them too). Then close when I’m done, I personally haven’t had any problems. I just have a little 12 egg incubator. My bator is open for maybe 5-10 minutes, but doesn’t take too long to heat back up. Good Luck

I do the same as @Stacyoung13 , I remove the lid and carefully candle each one and then close it again. Broody hens get off their clutch for 10-20 minutes every day, sometimes more than once to eat drink and poop, the cooling off for short periods of time is perfectly normal and you're not even doing it daily so don't worry too much!

I take a batch out at a time - I use a decent strong egg box to hold them so no more than 6 at once. Candle them then put them back and take out the next batch. That way the incubator isn't open for long and none of the eggs are kept out too long either. Last time I had 15 eggs in, so I did them in 5s.
