I picked my chickens up yesterday from a farm in Quebec. Two golden laced, and two silver laced Wyandotte’s, a golden Brahma and a white Delaware. I think they’re about 9 or 10 weeks. our goal is for eggs and if things are not manageable, we plan to eat the chickens before the winter...most likely that won’t happen and we will want to keep
them.
We live in a country setting so hoping we can also keep them protected and alive!
The Brooder we have set up is working well and the chicks seem calm and are settling in nicely. Our Brahma was even hanging out on the low roost we put in.
I’m new to this so all unsolicited advice is welcome.
We turned our boy’s treehouse Into our coop. It’s still a work in progress but the coop is critter proof, and we are almost finished the plans for the run beneath it. I found a local source of pine shavings and plan on the deep litter method.
I’m looking forward to learning from all of you. Our family is already enjoying these lovely creatures!
