They DO. Curly (the first link) Decided to go broody, perhaps before she ever laid an egg. I gave her 2 frizzles and a meatie to raise. She's never been so happy.

Then on Sunday, I blocked off a big chunk of the run where she is, and stuck the remaining 10 meaties in there. You'd think she had died and gone to heaven. She was everywhere trying to mother them all. It was proof chickens really CAN'T count.

Yeah, half my sizzles have the black skin, and the other half have the dark. All got the right number of toes---

Is it the roo that determines the skin color? I have Dozer

who threw these genes with my regular old roo.

Scary, huh?

Don't think so, I may be wrong but I think the light color skin can pop up from time to time. I have dark skinned hens with dark skinned roo's and everynow and then I still pop up with a lighter skin or red.. I'm sure its probably one of the hens that is throwing this but I'm kinda in the dark on genetics sometimes

Me too.

But I learn something new, almost every day!

I bought eggs from panperedpoultry last year and the chicks turned out just beautiful. I highly recommend getting these eggs. I would but I have plenty of them now and will have layers soon myself.
