We got 4 chicks this spring, two of which were golden laced wyandottes. They are now 12 weeks old - one is fully feathered, the other is only feathered on her head; the rest is mostly fluff and a few scraggly feathers, with several bald patches - under the wings, on her neck, and on her outer thighs, as well as back, belly, and outer wings. From recommendations @ the store where we got them and Tractor Supply, I've been spraying her bald spots with Vetericyn and now Microcyn - aiming for twice a day - for the past 4-5 weeks or so. I've added grit and scratch grain to their diet (still on chick feed for the protein), as well as probiotics and apple cider vinegar to their water. She's grown a few feathers but honestly it's been such slow going that I'm not sure if it's due to the interventions or just time. I'm not sure what else to do and we just incorporated them into the rest of our flock (5 full-grown chickens) for the first time tonight. She can't even roost because she doesn't have the feathers to help her balance, so I tucked her into the nesting box for this evening. The inability to roost concerns me, as does the fact that she's basically a naked chicken with little to no protection from being hen-pecked, not to mention extreme temperatures. She otherwise seems healthy - growing, eating, relieving herself, and running around. She even chases down her GLW sister and tries to hen-peck her. If you have any advice, please share!
