Hey all! I bought four new feather babies a couple of weeks ago from a farm a couple hours away. The seller was very confident that all four are pullets, but I am starting to think one is giving me rooster vibes. I am not very familiar or experienced with the Americana/Easter Egger breed, so figured I would see what you all think :)

That looks like a cockerel to me for sure!

I'm new to this too, but here's why I think so

- big comb
- varied/patchy coloration with red on the wings
- clear droopy long saddle feathers
- feathers on neck look long and pointy
- I think I can make out sickle feathers in one photo but a full side profile would be helpful to be sure
- The big red comb and wattle of course
- It might be helpful to compare to your other birds, but the legs look pretty thick as well

I also have an easter egger cockerel, and while the coloration and comb are different the signs are all there

Cockerel. Could possibly be a Hen, but. Some of my EE Roosters did start out looking like that

Thank you for your input! This is the only picture I have of all four together. This is the day I picked them up when they were around 9 weeks old. Each have very different coloring and features, but I am pretty sure the others are pullets still. Smaller, more pale combs and rounded feathers. How is the temperament of your EE rooster? We just had to get rid of our barred rock rooster because he was way too rough on our hens, resulting in injuries almost daily. They were miserable.

They're all beautiful! My EE roo is only about 10wks still, but so far he's friendly, inquisitive, and calm. No rooster behaviors except that he seems to be the most confident of the 3. I'm actually disappointed that he's gotta go, I'm sure he'll be lovely.

My understanding is that EE roosters tend to be pretty relaxed overall

The others look to be pullets. Temperament is an individual thing especially since easter eggers are mixed breeds. If you want to try him I certainly see no harm in it especially if you also have older hens who can teach him manners

Thank you! Hoping he will be more of a gentlemen, and I do have some older hens to possibly teach him to behave 🤭
