Hello, I have added three 12wk olds to a flock of two, 3yr old hens. One of the 12 week olds is a male. one of the two 3yr olds is a bit disabled. Today the male and her fought. jumping, kicking, biting, the whole thing. she cant defend herself too well so hes singling her out. I have a very safe pen within their coop. I put him in it, and want to leave him there! He could live in their fine, and we free range daily. Is this something that can be realistic for a healthy, thriving back yard flock? (i also have another coop with 5 4yr old GLW's that are rock solid. Not sure how to deal with the roo that is ruffling feathers with the somewhat disabled hen. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Getting rid of him is not an option. I took a chance when i got these babies, and feel I have the time and space to make this flock thrive.

Why not put him with the GLWs?
I dont understand it, but these 5 will DESTROY him. They attack all at once. I have seen them draw serious blood on one of the 2 pullets that I adopted 2.5years into having the 5 GLW's. it was a year after introduction too. They still to this day stalk her if bored. If one grabs her, they ALL jump in (during free range)... Its insane really. I so want him because even tho a mistake, hes mine and i want him to thrive. Thanks for advice, I totally need it, but feel that with the right guidance, i can have a really cool Roo in our lives. The GLW's kinda keep distance but once in a while go looking for trouble. Should I allow them to meet even tho i know its gonna be a fight? Hes being a little aggressive with his little flockmate Twinkie now too. Obviously his favorite. At this very moment, I have him in the pen within his coop and where his 'flock' is. His little sisters dont seem to be going to roost, instead, sitting outside his pen door (see through with harware cloth). Last night i had him in there, only to second guess myself and let him out at dusk. he ran right up and his sisters followed..... :fl 🐔 :he
