Hi all,

I don't know why I'm asking for gender confirmation again it's always bad news 😂 I should stop asking because I normally know deep down which are boys!

Anyway I think this Silkie is a boy. 12 weeks old. Thoughts?

Oh dear. This is what I thought but not familiar with Silkies and he was the only one in the batch that hatched so no comparison 🤦🏻‍♂

Thanks anyway!

Can you keep him?

I love my Silkie rooster eclipse. He’s incredibly sweet!
Not really have too many already. I normally look for a home for them and if I can't find a home they end up in the freezer. It's the sad truth of raising animals I suppose but they aren't being wasted as it makes me a lot more self sufficient, less food miles, better lives etc etc.

The gentleman I got my eggs off said he just culls his male chicks 😯 very sad.

That makes sense. I hope you find a good home for him!

I definitely get the culling part. While I haven’t done that, I’ll probably raise chickens for meat in the future.
I think it’s better to have them go to good use (aka dinner) than make problems in the flock or something like that if there’s too many roosters.
