I have a 12 week old welsummer hen that I just noticed this slightly swollen upper eyelid last night. I don't see anything in the eye and no drainage or trouble breathing. Her comb is lighter than the 5 other Welsummer hens of the same age that I have. She's eating, pooping and drinking normally, acting normal with the other hens. Today, the eye looks pretty much the same.
I'm seeing from other posts that this is likely a respiratory infection and should be treated with Tylosin and/or Terramycin. Would just the Terramycin optic ointment be enough at this point? Does Tylosin mean we won't be able to eat her eggs for her whole lifetime or just while and shortly after taking it? (She's not laying yet, obviously, but want to make sure it wouldn't be permanent.)
